Finding My Cycling Legs

James Ketchell > Blog > Finding My Cycling Legs

Hey guys,

Well I have been on the road for five solid days now and finally I’m starting to get my cycling legs back.

The last time I was cycling back to back days with a loaded bike would have been the best part of three years ago, when I was cycling around the world! One of the things I love about being out on the bike is the people you run into. (Not literally of course). So far I’ve met a retired couple who were training for a bike ride in Europe. A retired police officer who was cycling home and gave me a briefing on the history of Plymouth whilst on the Torpoint ferry. I also met two cyclists from a local club in Sidmouth who gave me some navigational tips on my route. The list goes on but the one common denominator is being on a bike, and that has enabled me to meet so many great people all over the world!

I need to say a BIG thank you to Nicky and Rik from the Ivy Barn B&B in Devon for letting me stay with them free of charge and cooking an amazing breakfast! Be sure to check these guys out if you find yourself in South Devon Amy time soon

I also need to say thanks to my friends Pat and Katie who have both let me stay with them and wash my stinking kit!

As I type this blog I’m sitting in St Ives and will be heading north tomorrow up to Bude, Illfacombe, Bristol and then into Wales. That will be the South West done and dusted! It’s been great down here but the undulating terrain can make cycling pretty savage at times, all good fun though!

Now don’t forget guys, you can come and join me anywhere around the coast and cycle with me. To find out where I am you can track me here

Please don’t forget the wonderful charity that I am cycling around Britain for. Over The Wall are really making a big difference to many young people throughout the UK. You can donate really easily by texting OTWR16 £5 to 70070 or through their website

More updates to come shortly

Out for now guys
