Hey guys,
I get asked a lot, “how are you always happy all the time”. The truth is, no one is happy all the time, every person on this planet is up and down, that’s just how human beings are made it’s part of our DNA. I personally believe that being happy and grateful is a choice, although some may disagree.
The trick is to recognise when you feel a little low and overwhelmed, this can be tough as feeling low, effects the mind and body in many ways and there will be a natural tendency to just stop with day to day activities and hide away. This has a seriously negative effect on work life and personal relationships with family and friends and can destroy people.
Here are just a few of my top tips to help you when you are feeling a little low….
- Hang out with good people.
They should be people who care for you. Let them know how you feel or just generally share what’s on your mind. This is a great way to get things off your chest and be happy. Don’t spend too much time alone or isolated. The more you connect with good people, the happier you’ll be. They’ll motivate you and remind you how special you are. Remember to make it a regular thing, not a once in a while move that you turn to when you are down.
- Watch motivational videos on Youtube.
I’m not saying spend all your time on social media that would be a bad thing, in fact when you are feeling low, you want to avoid social media. However your brain is at it’s most impressionable when you first wake up in the morning. This is usually a good way to start the day and quite often you realise that your challenges are really not that bad after all.
- Stay busy & keep moving.
This is probably the most important thing you can ever do to help with the way you are feeling. It is proven that exercise is the by far the best thing to beat general depression and feeling low and unmotivated. When I feel down the first thing I do is head down to the gym or jump on the bike for a quick spin. Even if you don’t want to exercise, read a book and do something to try and stimulate the brain. This will help stop negative thoughts from creeping into your mind.
- Do not compare yourself to others in anyway shape or form.
Sadly with the birth of social media we live in a word where everyone is comparing themselves to others. This will naturally never be good and at all costs you must avoid doing this. Everyone is different and everyone is very unique in their own way. The only competition you should have is the person looking back at you when you stand in front of the mirror.
Just a few little things, but hope this helps guys. Any questions or anything I can do to help, just shout!
