Round Britain Cycle The Adventure Continues!

15th August 2016by James Ketchell1

Hi everybody,

Yes, I know it’s been a while since my last update and to say the past month has been a bit of a struggle for me would be quite an understatement! Firstly, I need to say a massive thank you to everyone. including all my friends, who have reached out to me recently to see what’s going on and how I have been recovering since my GB row ended due to illness. I also need to apologise for the lack of updates over the past month: I know what disappointment feels like but this setback has been particularly difficult to deal with, for some reason.

So what’s next? My Round Britain Row is not over as such but I will not be able to continue this year as it’s now too late in the season to start again. The support I’ve had from everyone including all my sponsors has been incredible. I’m very disappointed that it didn’t go to plan, but there is always another day and the coast line of Great Britain is not going anywhere soon!

It’s now time to get back on the horse and carry on doing what I do. When I embarked on my GB row, the aim was to raise funds and awareness for ‘Over The Wall’, a fantastic charity which provide camps for seriously ill children.

So today – Monday 15th August – I am setting off from ‘Over The Wall”s headquarters in Havant to cycle around Britain. The aim remains the same, raising funds and awareness for OTW and having fun at the same time. I will be cycling clockwise around the country and estimate to be on the road for the best part of a month. I will be doing a mix of camping and staying with friends as I make my way around Britain. If you live by the coast and fancy taking in a smelly cyclist for the night, do let me know!

I’m also inviting people of all ages and abilities to join me – you will need to be self-sufficient though. Apart from that, I will keep you company!

I’ll also be uploading a video blog every other day, so stay tuned for that. In the mean time, here is the link to donate to Over The Wall:

For those of you who are on Twitter, I’ll be tweeting plenty of pics and updates so look me up @CaptainKetch.

I look forward to updating you all again and am very grateful for your ongoing support!

Out for now,

Captain Ketch
