It’s going to be a busy year

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago I uploaded a short video on twitter giving you a clue to a pretty awesome project that I am now involved with this coming January.

Recently I was put in contact with a rather cool guy who has decided to fulfill a dream expedition. To cross the Atlantic Ocean in a pedalo! Yes you did read this correctly, a pedalo… He then went on to ask me if I would assist him to make the crossing across the Atlantic Ocean. I obviously jumped at the chance and the prospect of trying something new is very exciting. Both Anthony and myself will be pedaling, (literally) across 3,000 miles of Ocean

It’s going to be what I would call a hybrid crossing as the boat has been built with a main pedal position but also retains a rowing position. Hopefully the boat will have a cool slide too! (Only joking that would be crazy!) The boat has been built by Charlie and his team at Rannoch Adventure, so far testing has gone very well. We may also be exploring the option of using a kite to harness the wind. The objective of this project is ultimately for Anthony to experience something magical and raise as much money for his charities as possible. We are not trying to break any records it’s just the prospect of doing something different that is very appealing.

We will make the crossing from either La Gomera or Gran Canaria to Antigua in the Caribbean. It’s the traditional mid trans Atlantic route, having already made the crossing on my own I am confident it should be fairly straight forward, certainly compared to the Indian Ocean.

This project will take me up to the end of March 2016 with my GB row starting in June. It’s all going on in 2016! On a day-to-day basis I am particularly busy on the speaking front and recently enjoyed addressing a fantastic crowd in Liverpool at the British Orthopaedic Association. Do get in touch if you would like me to speak at your event.

Someone recently asked me what my dream expedition would be. This made me think, so my question to you guys is, what would your dream expedition be? I’d love to hear your ideas.

I have recently taken delivery of some new Captain Ketch baseball caps. They are only £10 so do get in contact if you would like one.

Out for now
