Getting things done!

It’s been pretty much non stop since I returned from my cycle around Britain. I can’t believe that two weeks have passed already!

Last week I spent the day with James from Vaaru Bikes, rebuilding my machine that took me round Britain. You can check out his titanium bike range here http://www.vaarucycles.com and I promise a video of my full bike set up will be coming next week.

It’s now coming into speaking season so am finding myself attending events and meeting new people on a regular basis. I thoroughly enjoy the experience and know that I’m very lucky to be doing this for a living at the moment. I’ve realised that it doesn’t matter who you are or where you have come from, everyone has their own story and everyone is special in their own way.

So the question I’m often asked, what do you think about when you’re on your own in the Atlantic Ocean for almost four months? Or on Everest in the freezing cold struggling to breath?

Well the true answer is many things, the brain is a wonderful thing but it is also a very dangerous thing if it’s not working for you!

Every time I felt demotivated and generally low, I thought about all the people that had believed in me and supported me when so many others had not, I didn’t want to let those people down.

Ultimately I really wanted to be there doing it and that’s the key to achieving anything. If you want to do something but are constantly putting it off for this reason, or that reason, you need to ask yourself, do you really want this!

If you break things down into achievable smaller goals, and you do not stop or make any excuses until you reach them, you will by default always get what you want or where you want to be!

Someone once told me. The only limitless in life are what your own brain sets. The body will swim, ride, run and generally go way beyond what you can even conceive as being possible! This was certainly the case for me as I made my decent from the summit of Everest with pneumonia. I just kept going, moving only a few steps at a time, but the fact I was moving, albeit slowly, I eventually made it back to safety.
