Almost time to Pedalo across the Atlantic!

Hi everyone, Well here is the first blog from Gran Canaria, and I’m pleased to report that everything is going well… although I was a little worried when I received a text message from Iberia, telling me that one of my bags had been taken off the plane as the aircraft was overloaded. Thankfully, it was delivered to our apartment this afternoon, so I can now take a shower and put some clean clothes on! Although Anthony is coming out to join me at the week-end, I am not on my own. I have a great team of people with me at the moment, my good friend and cameraman Ian, and Richard from Rannoch Adventure. I need to say a big thanks to Richard as he left the UK six days ago, towing the boat through Europe and using numerous ferries to get the boat here in Puerto De Morgan. […]

Rowing the Atlantic in a Pedalo!

Happy New Year everyone, I cant believe that in less than two weeks I will be flying out to the Canary Islands to cross the Atlantic, which will be my 3rd crossing of the ocean. The boat has been designed and constructed by Rannoch Adventure, and is a one off experimental boat that incorporates a pedalo and rowing position, as well as a kite system that we are testing. On water trials have been extremely positive and thanks to the support and knowledge from the team at Rannoch we have what I think is going to be an outstanding boat and I’m sure Kitty Rouge will look after us both. In terms of equipment on board we have all the technology that you would expect to find on a conventional ocean rowing boat. Water-maker, AIS radar to warn us of large commercial vessels and all other mod cons. Our power will […]

Taking Opportunities

Hi everybody, It’s been a busy few weeks, mostly with training and preparation for the Atlantic Pedalo crossing this January, which I am eagerly looking forward to. A few weeks ago an opportunity came my way, and it didn’t take me long to decide whether I was going to take it. How many opportunities come your way, and do you always take them? I guess opportunities come to all of us in some way, shape of form. Sometimes the crucial ability is being able to recognise an opportunity, or turn something into an opportunity. I have thought a lot about opportunities and realised I simply wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for an opportunity that came my way. So with that in mind I am heading out to the Amazon jungle in November. It’s a short trip with the objective being to film a series of short […]

It’s going to be a busy year

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago I uploaded a short video on twitter giving you a clue to a pretty awesome project that I am now involved with this coming January. Recently I was put in contact with a rather cool guy who has decided to fulfill a dream expedition. To cross the Atlantic Ocean in a pedalo! Yes you did read this correctly, a pedalo… He then went on to ask me if I would assist him to make the crossing across the Atlantic Ocean. I obviously jumped at the chance and the prospect of trying something new is very exciting. Both Anthony and myself will be pedaling, (literally) across 3,000 miles of Ocean It’s going to be what I would call a hybrid crossing as the boat has been built with a main pedal position but also retains a rowing position. Hopefully the boat will have a cool […]
